Find Newspapers

Find full text articles from local, regional, and national newspapers worldwide. The newspapers are available in various formats. The most common formats are print, microform and electronic, which are usually accessible online. Although you can search reduced-size editions on KOSMOS, most of the newspaper collections are NOT included in the library catalog. Here are the lists including the newspaper titles and coverage:

Locations and Formats

[West Reading Room, 2nd Floor] Reduced-size editions are kept here. Most of the major Japanese newspapers are available in reduced-size edition, as well as in normal-size original print or digital format.

[3rd Floor] The latest issues of the newspapers in original print format are kept on this floor. The coverage varies by titles, Check the list above for details.

[Basement 4] Microfilms and microfishe are here. Most of the major newspapers are available in microform along with print or digital format. In order to use microfilms, bring the reels to the counter on the 3rd Floor. You are required to make an application. Make sure that the reels stay inside the container; do not take them out before application. For microfische, ask a librarian at the counter.

[Old Building & Off-Campus Storages] Original print copies bound in volumes are kept in the Old Library and off-campus storages.

If you have any questions regarding newspapers, please ask a librarian at the Reference Counter.
