Using E-journals and E-books

Warning: Large Volume Access Using Link Prefetching of Web Browser

Accessing large volumes of data in short time when using e-journals or e-books may be regarded as a breach of contract.
It may lead to service suspenion by the providers to Keio University. → [Important] Notes on Use

In recent days, cases of large volume access caused by link prefetching have been reported frequently. 
Prefetching continuously allows web browsers to access links in the background, while viewing a web page.
It results in large volume data downloads or access, even though the user intends to use the service in a proper manner.

We strongly recommend that you turn off the prefetching. Please follow the instructions below.
It has been reported that the problems are most likely to happen with Microsoft Edge.

Microsoft Edge
Open Settings > Cookies and site permissions.
Open ”Manage and delete cookies and data".
Set “Preload pages for faster browsing and searching ” to off.

Google Chrome
At the top right, click More More and then Settings.
Click ”Privacy and security” and choose "Cookies and other site data".
Open "preload pages" and choose "No preloading".

Safari (Mac)
Open “Preferences” from the Safari menu bar
On the “Search” tab uncheck “Preload Top Hit in the Background”

Safari (iOS, iPadOS)
Open “Safari” from Settings.
On the “Search”  section set  “Preload Top Hit in the Background” to off.

FireFox
Type “about:config” in the URL bar and press Enter.
If the “Proceed with Caution” warning is displayed, click “Accept the Risk and Continue”
On the configuration screen double-click “network.prefetch-next” and set to “false.”
